Learning about Native American history we see many examples of losses due to issues in their lives. In the book of "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian," by Sherman Alexie. The reader gets to understand about how Junior the main character and Natives lives in general, are surrounded with alcohol, troubles with education, and poverty.

ALCOHOLISM

Alcoholism is an addiction to the consumption of alcoholic liquor or the mental illness and compulsive behavior. Many native suffered from alcoholism due to past struggles

According to nativepartnership.org,it mentions, "Mixed in poverty and living with ongoing oppression and alcohol contributes to a state of emergency on many reservations.

On page 158 it says, " I mean, the thing is plenty of Indians have died because they were drunk. And plenty of drunken Indians have killed all the drunken Indians.

On page 211, "And the whole time, everybody would be drinking booze and getting drunk and stupid and sad and mean."

EDUCATION

Young native lives have trouble getting support for education from lacking wealth and losing their culture.

This year, more states are trying to help by training teachers working with tribes to create policies and programs, embedding culture in lessons and giving more money to schools with many Native American students. newsela.com

POVERTY

Native Americans have disadvantages with the amount of money they make or receive. Their conflicted lives cause poverty.

Many homes' windows are broken, with only a tarp separating the residents from the weather. Children's toys are piled up hazardously, mixed with lawn chairs and trash. thealantic.com

On page 13, "And because your Indian you start believing you're destined to be poor. It's an ugly circle and there's nothing you can do about it.

CONCLUSION

Overall, the numerous issues that Indians experience are very unpleasant. With these sources people can now understand the struggles they go through whether it's alcoholism, education or poverty. These three topics are very well blended to impact the future of Native Americans.
