Prof-Hostess

on the 14th of October I took photo's for a christmas card and we wanted it to be over the top christmas style :-)

This week I received the beautiful christmas card in the mailbox from Prof-hostess where we worked on, during a night out with all of the girls, men what did we had fun that night. So nice to see this final result where so much love, atention and effort is put in

Every year Wicky van der Meys (Prof-Hostess) is doing something special for Christmas and there is also a fundraise involved. This year it is "Stichting Mont Ventoux"

2years ago she made this clip with professional dancers for "Dance for Life"

Christmas shoot for: Kitty kleding & advies

Together with Kitty Loupatty & Petra de Jong who did the styling for the kids I build in the studio a christmas setting with different props. In total i used 6 lights

After building the set for about 3 hours I was ready to test and regulate the light. I was happy with the outcome of it and just had to tweak the front lights of my subjects "the kids"

I knew which style I wanted to create , so after hard work during the shoot it was time to transfer the photo in to Photoshop to create these pics, nice and warm and a little bit of retro.

Picking up December post

Iff I do something, I do it right, in every way! (at least I trie!)

Also with my December mail, so here's the thing. To my best customers I am going to send the Christmas card which I made earlier, and off course you can print it on a normal paper, but I don't think that is exciting enough! So I decided to print my cards as a real photo, number it and handwrite a personal message on it, the reason for all of this is that I hope the cards are kept as a piece of art and are not being thrown away.

Men what do they look great on this paper!

Testing the Phase One XF IQ 50

Last week the importer of Phase One 'Netherlands' Eyes on Media called me and said that i had won a small contest with a T-shirt and a one on one demo with the new Phase one XF camera.

Since i had seen this camera already and was impressed by it's statistics, i asked him iff it would be possible to bring my own lighting gear so i could see what the camera does with my own style of photography. His answer shocked me, he said: if you have a shoot planned give us a call and the camera is waiting for you! And i had a shoot planned for this Sunday, so I made this appointment with him, and I could play all weekend with this camera, how awesome was this, you can compare it with a guy who normally drives in a good car, and he gets a Ferrari for the weekend free of charge!

My findings in short!

Unretouched Photo by: Marco ter Beek fotografie (www.marcoterbeekphotography.com)
100% view of the same picture

About bokeh!

  • Daylight
  • Handheld
  • 400 iso,
  • 80mm,
  • f/2.8
  • 1/320sec.

This camera rocks, and why?

  • Speed: because you workflow is slower, you work faster
  • Overall sharpness: amazing, the details in the eyes, fabric, pores in the face, loose hair, everywhere
  • Transferspeed tethering: it kicks Adobe Lightroom's ass. Pics appear almost instantly on the macbook
  • Bokeh: butter soft and still has a punch in the pics which I like
  • Retouching: because the pixels are bigger, photoshop pick's up way faster and more naturally

Overall

It will be my next camera, and okay, i will have to save money for it because you can buy a really nice car for it but, what a nice piece of equipment this is!

Boudoirshoot @ the Hilton amsterdam

With private shoots it is always such a nice feeling that the client trusts you so much that they are really going to pose for you. Directing, tweaking her body-position and face expression just by talking to her and get the right atmosphere, i just love it when everything comes together in just 1 picture!

Keep in mind that this woman never did a photoshoot like this!
