Looking For Alaska By: Taylor Mccain

Summary

Miles Halter a boy that's tired of his friendless life, transfers to Culver Creek boarding school. He tells his parents he wants to find the great perhaps and there's something more for him. So once he gets to the boarding school he meets The Colonel(real name Chip Martin), Takumi, Lara, and Alaska Young. These people introduced him to the world of cigarettes, alcohol, and pranks. So Miles, The Colonel, Takumi, Lara, and Alaska pull an epic prank on both the eagle and the Weekend Warriors, which involves blue hair dye and fake progress reports. During their hide out they found out Alaska's mother died of an aneurysm(which explains a lot about Alaska). But two days after Alaska gets a phone call from her boyfriend because it's their anniversary and she freaks out. So she goes out at night and the next day people found out she died in a horrible car crash. Which made Miles really confused, so him and The Colonel go out and try to figure out how she died. But after it all they gave up and throw a last prank for Alaska. To dedicate Alaska.

Character Trait

The character I picked from the novel Looking for Alaska is Alaska. My character trait for her unhappy. One thing she said was on page 44 "Y'all smoke to enjoy it, I smoke to die". This shows she's unhappy because in the book she always smokes. She buys packs of cigarettes for her friends and for herself. It's sad because she doesn't care that she will die. She doesn't try to be happy. But another thing she said was on page 52 "I may die young," she said. "But at least I'll die smart. Now back to tangents". This shows that she's unhappy because again she doesn't care that she might die young. She always talks about death through out the book and is always depressed. Last thing she said that showed the character trait unhappy was on page 124 "What you must understand about me is that I'm a deeply unhappy person". This definitely shows that she's unhappy because she said it herself. She's a deeply unhappy person. But the reason she is unhappy is because her dad accused her for killing her mom. Her mom died when Alaska was a little girl. One day her mom fell on the ground and was bleeding to death. But Alaska was freaking out but she didn't call 911. She just laid on the ground beside her mother and waited till her dad came home from work.
