Nature of Wires was formed in 1986 in Herefordshire, England. The original line-up was Gary Watts (synths & programming) and Andrew Stirling-Brown (vocals) and the dark electronic duo toured the United Kingdom, captivating fans with their melodic but muscular synthpop sound. In 1993 vocalist Sarah Bouchier, aka Lady B, joined Nature of Wires, but the following year the band decided to take a "six-month" break, which would last more than 20 years!

In 2015 Nature of Wires reformed and joined forces with Californian vocalist CountessM. The next year they released Cyber Rendezvous on the Manchester-based AnalogueTrash label, which was the band’s first album since 1993’s Modus Operandi. In 2016 Nature of Wires’ intricate and dazzling live shows were enhanced by the addition of Tim Powell-Tuck on electronic drums, as they continued to tour around the UK, as well as appearing on BBC Introducing. In 2018 Sarah (Lady B) returned to the line-up, making her debut (or second coming) at Manchester’s iconic Ruby Lounge in November. Nature of Wires has appeared with many giants of the electronic scene, including Empathy Test, Aesthetic Perfection, Lord of the Lost and Leaether Strip and were part of the successful 2018 Ohm From Ohm Tour with The Frixion, Rodney Cromwell and Vieon. More shows are planned for 2019, with sights set on festivals in the UK and mainland Europe.

Nature of Wires released "Reborn", a four-track EP which features Lady B on lead vocals, on the German Echozone label on April 26th 2019. The first single from the EP "Try" reached number 9 in the German Alternative Charts (DAC). The band is currently finalising the next album, Modus, with Andrew on lead vocals (it was written before Lady B rejoined), which will be released on UK label AnalogueTrash in the summer of 2019, with remix contributions from Mesh, Leaether Strip, Klammer, Cyferdyne and more. NoW has also created remixes for scores of international artists including Massive Ego, Leaether Strip, Sigue Sigue Sputnik Electronic, !distain, Precog, Advance, Freakangel, Machine Rox and Vogon Poetry.
