Britney Rochette Mcom 2400 projects

Blog

As a requirement for the MCOM 2400 course at ETSU we were required to keep a blog throughout the duration of the semster. My blog focused on the college life, faith, life hacks, and beauty topics. I wrote in it at least twice a week for four months, and incooperated different sources of media throughout the blog.

These are a few of the header images that I created through Adobe Spark, which I used in my Blogs.

Podcast

I drafted and recorded a 4 minute long podcast on sorority recruitment at ETSU, which I edited through Audacity. In my podcast I discussed the do's and don'ts of recruitment, and what exactly to expect during the stressful weekend.

Photo Story

As a partner project in the course, we had to develop a photo story through Adobe Spark. My partner, Lexi Barnes, and I focused our photo story on ETSU's Center for Physical Activity. We took pictures of several of the classes that the CPA offers, as well as interviewing students and instructors.

My Magazine Spread

As a part of the course we had to create a magazine spread through Adobe Indesign. I focused on the ETSU student film festival at the Real to Reel Theater in Johnson City, TN. The film festival showcased ETSU student's films and projects, and some students received awards based on their work.

Video Project

As a final project in the course, we all got in groups of 3 to 4 people and created 6 minute long episodes. Our episodes were informational videos directed towards incoming freshmen students at ETSU. Episode 1 discussed how to navigate your way around the Burgin E. Dossett building, and the financial aid offices. The second episode discusses the residence halls, and takes the viewers on a tour of the inside of an actual residence hall at ETSU. My partners during this project were Hasten Freeman and Tyler Stafford...with a little assistance from Nathan Wallace (RA).

My Experience

I thoroughly enjoyed taking the MCOM-2400 course. I had never really done an advertising or media work before, but this course made it easy to get a grasp on the technology used in the advertising community. My weaknesses was definitely filming and figuring out how to the edit videos in Adobe Premiere Pro, however, by the end of the project i felt like sort of a pro. My strengths were my dedication to my blog and the course, because keeping up with a detailed attractive blog is very hard to do as a busy college student. I hope to learn more about how to use these applications in the future, and learn how to make cool video projects. I thoroughly enjoyed working on adobe spark and creating cool intricate blog posts, however, I didn't really enjoy having to create an Adobe Muse website.
