Maximizing Outdoor Learning Time in October

October has been an ideal month for teaching and learning outdoors! Students have been working in all of our school gardens, sharing in the responsibilites and offering encouragement to one another as they collaborate to tend to their surroundings.

Our outdoor gardens (and our students) are thriving!
Students connect with nature while reading and writing outdoors.

Ten Students Accepted to All-State Music Festival

Mamaroneck is so proud and excited to recognize ten MHS students for their acceptance into the 2021 NYSSMA All-State Festival. Seven of these students will be performing in Rochester on December 2-5, 2021. Thousands of students audition each spring for a rating at a NYSSMA festival for consideration in one of the All-State performing groups. For the first time, one of our MHS students, Henry Roffman, 12th grade, has been selected in the Electronic Showcase category for the NYSSMA 2021 Creator Competition. Henry will join other outstanding student composters at the winter conference where his composition will be performed. We are thrilled that so many Mamaroneck students have been accepted as performers and alternates: Caitlyn Carpenter, viola, Symphony Orchestra; Seth Julie, bass, Symphony Orchestra; Sofia Martinez, alto, Mixed Chorus; Ian Morris, clarinet, Symphonic Band; Millie Sach, bass, Symphony Orchestra; William Tucker, trombone, Symphonic Band; Henry Roffman, Call for Creators, electronic showcase; Sasha Bilik, violin, alternate; Jade Decker, soprano, alternate; and Melanie Huang, piccolo, alternate
