Imperialism is basically when a politically strong country takes control of a weaker one. That country then dominates aspects like the economy, the politics, and the cultural life of the other area. Imperialism can take place for many different reasons. Sometimes, it was because of nationalism, when a country thinks that their home country is so much better than others. It can also happen when a stronger country sees that a different country has more natural resources than them and they want to take advantage of that.
England Taking Over India:
When England imperialized India, they took control of the economy and the resources that India had. They made exchanges with India. India sent their raw materials and resources to England. Once they got there, the materials were made into finished goods. India then bought the finished goods back from England. This was good for England because they were able to make money, but not so good for India because they had to give money to England for things that came from their own country.

At the time Queen Liliuokalani was ruling, however she was forced to abdicate when the monarchy was overthrown by a group of businessmen and sugar planters. The dissolving of the Hawaiian kingdom led to its annexation as a U.S. territory and Hawaii was eventually accepted as the 50th state of the United States of America.
