I began thinking about aromatherapy in December 2013 and was about to embark on my journey not knowing that tragedy was just around the corner.
In September 2014, my Mum was struck by a car while crossing the road. Mum was in so much pain which she tried so hard to hide from me. I didn’t know how to help her and was overcome by fear, sadness, and a feeling of complete helplessness.
One day I walked into Mum's room to check on her and she immediately tried to disguise the obvious pain she was in. At the same time, I tried to keep the tears from falling. I went back to my room and began to cry. This is my Mum and I didn't know how to help her.
I am a fighter though and was bound and determined not to throw my hands up in despair. What can I do? Calm down and think. I began to research the internet for nerve sensitivity and found a study about an essential oil that may help with sensitivity from nerve pain. What did we have to lose?
Mum, who is a retired registered nurse and the worst patient ever, allowed me to try this natural alternative. I began a regimen of massaging my Mum’s legs every single day for 3 months with the essential oil, mixed in coconut oil that she had in her kitchen…
Surprise! It worked and my happiness could not be contained. The words my Mum shared with me for her gratitude was priceless and I will never forget the way it made me feel. We hugged and we cried. Did I mention that Mum is diabetic?
Side note: The essential oil was Geranium (Pelargonium x asperum) and Mum still uses it to this day!

Me & My Mum - Newmarket, Suffolk, United Kingdom
A year had passed since my Mum's accident and on a quest to find myself, I landed squarely at Aromahead Institute. I enrolled in October 2015 and began training in January 2016 after attending a free webinar on How to Become a Certified Aromatherapist.
I knew, without a doubt, that I had found my definite purpose. My continued training has brought me to this place and my intention is to help demystify and lessen the abundance of information that surrounds the World of Aromatherapy.
So you see, from personal heartbreak, soaked in emotion & oceans of love, the woman who gave me life, helped give life to my dream and Mudita Aromatics was born!
In case you were wondering, Mudita is ancient Sanskrit for “Unselfish Joy”. Who knows, perhaps you can do something for a loved one that is absolutely priceless.
