Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll was born February 2, 1977, in Barranquilla Colombia. Shakira is a very important person in Latin American history for numerous reasons. She originally achieved success through both Latin and English markets. Shakira is known as one of the most successful Latin American recording artists of all time. She had written songs from the time she was ten, and she remains in the music business in this present day. Shakira had first started belly dancing at a very young age. Her first two albums were called Magia in 1991, and Peligro in 1993, but this was only a starting point for her achievements in life. She then took a break to act in a soap opera called El Oasis, but soon after returned to making music.
Amongst the eight themes of world history, Shakira is involved with cultural interaction, and revolution. Shakira created music in both English and Latin markets, which tie together the two cultures. Shakira also does a lot with revolution, because of her music. She revolutionized pop music due to her outstanding musical talent, and for spreading her beautiful voice throughout America and Latin America.
Shakira once said, "I'm a multi-faceted woman and person, like all women are-there's no black and white. We have shades of grey in the middle. And even many more colours that other people don't see" (Shakira)! This quote shows that Shakira wants all people to be treated equally in the world.
