NORCAN Ontario Visit Day 1 at pereyma
Team Pereyma has been eagerly anticipating and planning for our NORCAN friends to arrive. We were eager to re-connect with our Albertan and Norwegian colleagues, and our students were looking forward to connecting and learning with new classmates.
NORCAN friends were welcomed into Pereyma's Learning Commons where we shared some Canadian culture
...and we had fun exploring the capabilities of the Sphero robots!
The race began with an Arts task in the front foyer of the school.
From there, teams played Canada's game of basketball in a 25 point challenge
And applied mathematical thinking to finish off a truss in one of Pereyma's Technology classrooms.
Students used crackers to demonstrate the Pythagorean Theorem in the Foods classroom...
...And then met with our chaplain to investigate the work of Monsignor John Pereyma, in honour of whom our school is named. Amazing race participants also learned about another beloved former Pereyma chaplain, Father Don.
Pereyma's outstanding drama crew modelled and then judged a tableau created by Amazing Race contestants. Their tableau represented travellers rushing to make a plane connection.
