5 Images that BROKE THE INTERNET! OMG! ERROR 404!

The internet, a place that seems so untouchable and infinite. A place full of anything your heart could ever dream of. A place so large that any topic being discussed seems so little, that is, apart from a few renowned images that have surfaced over the past few years.

Talking about it literally, the term ‘Breaking the Internet’ seems impossible. How could somebody physically destroy the internet, that big cloud which follows us everywhere? But when you ‘Break the Internet’ in this day and age it means you have dominated the internet with one conversation, becoming the most talked about topic all over the web.

Broke The Internet.

Kim Kardashian for Paper Magazine

I think we all saw this one back in 2014, Kim Kardashian and her amazing...ly skilful balance! Teaming up with photographer Jean-Paul Goude, a series of images were taken of Kim in a black dress (slightly resembling a bin-bag!) doing all sorts of poses.

@World_Record_Egg

"Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)!"

On January 4th 2019, a seamlessly innocent Instagram account @world_record_egg posted this perfect egg photo with the caption “Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)!”

Sure enough, in just under 10 days, this image became the most-liked Instagram post, reaching 18.4 million likes. Continuing to rise to 45 million likes, it then surpassed Justin Bieber’s “Despacito” music video, becoming the world record for the most-liked post on any online media platform in history.

Wow!

JLO X VERSACE

The Infamous Green Jungle Versace Dress

JLO at the 2000 Grammys vs JLO at the 2019 Milan Fashion Week

Everyone had to start from somewhere, even our Queen JLO. Attending the 42nd Grammy Awards with her then-boyfriend Puff Daddy, JLO was still an unknown actress, starring in a few films. However she rocked up in an amazing, head-turning Versace dress and that’s all that was talked about for weeks after.

Now back to 2019 and almost 20 years later, Lopez decided to resurrect the green dress for a Versace show at Milan Fashion Week. There are slight changes with the dress but she still stunned viewers and started conversations!

The Dress

I hate to bring this cursed image up again however, whether you like it or not, the dress DEFINITELY broke the internet!

In 2015, you couldn’t go 10 minutes without seeing the dress, hearing the dress or having nightmares about the dress. Black and Blue? White and Gold? It could never be agreed upon, but there was definitely a shared sense of mind-boggle for everyone.

Within the first week of the dress being posted, it racked up more than 10 million tweets, full of confusion and arguments. Eventually the dress was confirmed to be black and blue.

Ellen DeGeneres Oscar Selfie

What do you get when you mix Bradley Cooper, Ellen DeGeneres, Brangelina and J Law?

A spectacular selfie set to become the most retweeted image on Twitter!

At the 2014 Oscars, DeGeneres set out to capture a glorifying image by wading through the crowd and gathering a handful of famous faces to jump in. Taken by Bradley Cooper, DeGeneres immediately posted it to her twitter with the caption :

“If only Bradley’s arm was longer. Best photo ever.”
