My Schedule for the Month of April
My schedule this month is set to accommodate projects and joint curriculum/technology planning meetings across all three campuses on days that are most convenient for YOU. Please send me an email or calendar invite for any day that is marked "All Gold Campuses" if you would like to meet to plan a lesson that incorporates technology, learn how to use a program or new technology equipment, or have assistance during a lesson with your students that utilizes technology.
Apple Classroom 2.0 App for iPads
Apple released a new iOS version last week known as 10.3. The best part of the new iOS - we now have the ability to use the Classroom app! The Classroom app helps you monitor all of your iPads and more!
"Classroom turns your iPad into a powerful teaching assistant, helping a teacher guide students through a lesson, see their progress, and keep them on track. With Classroom, you can easily launch the same app on every student device at the same time or launch a different app for each group of students. Classroom helps teachers focus on teaching so students can focus on learning."
If you would like help setting up your iPads whether you have 2 or 30+, please send me an email and I will be more than happy to meet with you. A special thank you to Ashley Niesner at Briscoe who let me try this process out with her iPads last Friday so that I could become more familiar with the app myself. :)
Apple also has a Getting Started with Classroom 2.0 guide available online.
SMART Board Tech Tip
The Magic Pen tool inside of SMART Notebook enables you to create objects that slowly fade, open a maginifcation window, and open a spotlight window.
Accessing the Magic Pen: Click the Pens tool --> Pen Types button --> Magic Pen from the list
Create Slowly Fading Objects: Select the Magic Pen from the Pen Type list --> Write or draw desired objects. Note: Drawing a rectangle or circle may inadvertently activate the magnification or spotlight window. You may need to make a rectangle or circle incomplete to avoid this from happening.
Create a Magnification Window: Select the Magic Pen from the Pen Type list --> Write or draw a rectangle on the screen --> A magnification window will activate. --> Move the magnification window by dragging the box around the screen by the outer edge. Resize the magnification window by clicking and dragging on the central portion of the box. Close the magnification window by clicking the "X" on the top-right corner of the box
Customize Magic Pen: Select the Magic Pen from the Pen Type list --> Click the Properties side tab --> Select Fill Effects --> Change the "Fade after (seconds)" to increase or decrease the speed in which the Magic ink fades from the screen --> Select Line Style Change the pen color and thickness as needed
Create a Spotlight Window: Select the Magic Pen from the Pen Type list --> Write or draw a circle on the screen --> A spotlight window will activate --> Move the spotlight window by dragging the circle around the screen by the outer edge. Resize the spotlight window by clicking and dragging on the central portion of the circle. Close the spotlight window by clicking the "X" on the top-right corner of the circle.
