Poultry Off The Bone By: Danielle Jackson

This week we made Chicken strips which I was very excited about because there my favorite thing in the world. Chicken strips can be fried baked and grilled. Our teacher wanted us to bake are chicken strips because that is healthier than frying them, but we ran into complications with our recipe due to the fact that it had dairy in it and I am Lactose and tolerant. To solve the problem we chose a different recipe and we decided to fry our chicken. Fried chicken can be a challenge to make because it can become very dry while frying. To make sure that our chicken was not dry we decided to marinate the chicken for about 15-20 min. then bread and fry the chicken.

Ingredients: 1 egg, 1/2 cup milk, 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1-1/2 teaspoons garlic powder, 1-1/2 teaspoons pepper, 1/2 teaspoon salt ,1/2 teaspoon paprika, 2 pounds chicken tenderloins, Oil for deep-fat frying, 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Directions: In a shallow bowl, whisk egg and buttermilk. In a separate shallow bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, pepper, salt and paprika. Dip chicken in egg mixture, then flour mixture. In an electric skillet, heat oil to 375°. Fry chicken, a few pieces at a time, for 2-3 minutes on each side or until no longer pink. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with cheese.
