Freshman Caitlyn Lowery gave the Mocs (5-8-1, 3-5-0 SSC) a crucial insurance goal in the 74th minute as they defeated Eckerd (6-5-1, 3-5-0) 2-1 on Wednesday night in St. Petersburg, FL. - (read more)

[10/20] - Florida Southern Defeated by Palm Beach Atlantic in Overtime ... Florida Southern women's soccer honored its senior class prior to an overtime loss to Palm Beach Atlantic. The Mocs (5-9-1, 3-6-0 SSC) got on the board in the fifth minute to take a 1-0 lead over the Sailfish (7-7-1, 3-5-1). Midway through the overtime period Palm Beach Atlantic scored the game winner. - (read more)

[10/16] - Top-20 Soccer Moments at Barnett Field, #7 (October 30, 2012) ... Ties are a way of life in soccer, though they often drive American sports fans out of their mind. They happen frequently, and if a college postseason game ends in a draw, a series of five penalty kicks are used to determine which team advances to the next round, even though the official results still list it as a tie. By 2012, the Florida Southern women's soccer team had been through that scenario four times in the previous four seasons, and come out on the wrong end in all four. [10/17] - Florida Southern Sits at No. 5 in First NCAA South Region Men's Soccer Ranking ... The NCAA has released its first regional rankings of the 2018 season, and the Florida Southern men's soccer team is No. 5 in the South. The rankings are used in the selection process for the NCAA Tournament in November, with four teams allocated to the South Region. The champions of the Sunshine State Conference and Gulf South Conference, as determined by their respective conference tournaments, each receive automatic bids, with the remaining two spots filled by at-large teams determined by regional ranking. - (read more)

[10/17] - Moccasin Men’s Soccer Team Unleashes Scoring Barrage in 7-1 Win over Eckerd ... After conceding a goal in the 28th minute that gave Eckerd a 1-0 lead, Florida Southern needed only 32 seconds to tie the score, less than four minutes to take the lead itself, and not even the remainder of the first half to turn the game into a rout. The scoring continued well into the second half too as seven different Moccasins scored goals in a record-tying 7-1 win over the Tritons. - (read more)

[10/19] - Top-20 Soccer Moments at Barnett Field, #6 (October 25, 1997) ... The recent and continuing success of the 2018 men's soccer team has drawn a lot of comparisons to past Moccasin teams, including one in particular. In 1997, the Moccasins were in their fifth season under former Florida Southern goalkeeper Kris Pahl, who by the end of his career would be involved in more games as a player, assistant coach or head coach than anyone else in the history of Florida Southern soccer, 357 to be exact. - (read more)

[10/22] - Gartrell Captures SSC Women's Golfer of the Week Honor ... Florida Southern's Amanda Gartrell has been selected as the Sunshine State Conference Women's Golfer of the Week following her runner-up finish in the Saint Leo Invitational. It's the second time in Gartrell's career she has won the league's weekly award, and she's the first Moccasin golfer to claim one this season. - (read more)

[10/15] - Zagers’ 71 and a Dozen Birdies by the Moccasins Have Florida Southern in Second at Saint Leo Invitational ... Sophomore Ashley Zagers opened the Saint Leo Invitational with a career-best one-under par 71, and combined with her teammates to give Florida Southern 12 birdies in the round as the 5th-ranked Moccasins ended day one just two shots behind 4th-ranked Barry with a team score of 295. - (read more)

[10/16] - Florida Southern and Gartrell Claim Take Runner-Up Spots at Saint Leo Invitational ... With individual runner-up Amanda Gartrell shooting a second-round 71, and all five golfers in the 70s for the second day in a row, 5th-ranked Florida Southern finished the 2018 Saint Leo Invitational tied with No. 3 Nova Southeastern for second place, finishing three shots behind No. 4 Barry. Michael VanDerLaan's one-under-par 70 was the Moccasins' best score of round one Monday, and Johnny Tucker's 71 was their best in round two, and together they were the Mocs' top golfers for the day as 2nd-ranked Florida Southern was tied for 12th at the Copperhead Championship at Innisbrook Resort. - (read more)

[10/16] - Moccasins Move up Three Spots on Final Day of Copperhead Championship Behind Ibbotson’s 70 ... Chase Ibbotson had Florida Southern's best round of the day with a one-under-par 70, and three of his teammates had either a 72 or 73 as the 2nd-ranked Moccasins moved up three spots to finish the Copperhead Championship in a three-way tie for ninth. - (read more)

With one fall tournament remaining on the schedule, the Florida Southern men's golf team is ranked No. 6 in the latest Bushnell Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll. [10/20] - FSC Takes 2nd at Sand Shark Invite Behind Jones' 3rd Place Finish ... Mason Jones continued his strong sophomore campaign by finishing in third place, leading Florida Southern to a second-place showing at the USC Beaufort Sand Shark Invitational Cross Country meet here Saturday morning at the Sgt. Jasper Park. Jones led all Division II runners in the meet with a time of 25:14.3. The 34-team field featured 281 runners. - (read more)

[10/20] - Flemming Paces Mocs to 3rd Place Finish at Sand Shark Race ... Sophomore Hannah Flemming ran an 18:19.3 to finish in eighth place over a 5K race and lead Florida Southern to a third-place finish at the USC Beaufort Sand Shark Invitational Cross Country meet here Saturday morning at the Sgt. Jasper Park. The Moccasins finished with 106 points, trailing the Savannah College of Art & Design (Atlanta), which won with 66 points, and fellow Sunshine State Conference member, Embry-Riddle, which took second with 73 points. - (read more)

[10/19] - Mocs Top No. 12 West Florida, Sweep Valdosta State ... Rachael Martin and Nicole Mattson put on an offensive clinic as Florida Southern College volleyball kicked off the 2018 South Region Crossover with a pair of 3-0 victories on Friday at the Orlando Sports Center. The Moccasins (16-8) took down Valdosta State in the first match of the day and dominated No. 12 West Florida in the second contest. Martin tallied 13 kills in the win against the Blazers, while Mattson ended the day with 18 against the Argonauts. - (read more)

[10/20] - Volleyball Sweeps West Georgia for Fourth-Straight Win ... Nicole Mattson tallied 19 kills and Florida Southern College volleyball picked up its fourth-straight victory with a 3-0 sweep of West Georgia on Saturday afternoon at the Orlando Sports Center. The win gave the Moccasins (17-8) a perfect 3-0 record during the 2018 South Region Crossover over the weekend. Behind two individual wins from senior Katie Moore in the 500 and 1,000-freestyle, and a pair of relay victories that both included 50-freestyle winner Krystal Karas, No. 17 Florida Southern opened the 2018-19 season by downing Rollins College, 128-77, Friday afternoon. The 2018-19 season begins this weekend for the Florida Southern swimming teams as they begin their first year under new head coach Andy Robins with back-to-back dual meets Friday afternoon at Rollins and Saturday morning at Saint Leo. The men's squad is coming off its seventh consecutive top-five finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships, while the women's team placed 18th at last year's national championship meet and has six top-15 finishes in the last eight years. - (read more)

[10/19] - Robins Announces the Hiring of Kendal Casey as Florida Southern's New Assistant Swimming Coach ... Florida Southern College head swimming coach Andy Robins has announced the hiring of Kendal Casey as the Moccasins' new assistant swimming coach. Casey joins the Florida Southern staff after a year as a volunteer assistant coach at Florida Atlantic University following her college career at the University of Kentucky where she earned All-SEC and honorable mention All-American honors for the Wildcats. - (read more)

[10/15] - Moccasins Finish Fourth at NCWSA National Championships ... Tanguy Dailland and Valentina Gonzalez each finished second in the trick competition, and Allie Nicholson finished second in the women's slalom as Florida Southern College water ski took fourth place at the 2018 Connelly Skis NCWSA National Championships over the weekend. Dailland (5,910 points) finished just 60 points out of first place and was a comfortable 80 points better than the third-place finisher on the men's side. Coach Niekro receives his award from Florida Diamond Club President Alan Marr

Congratulations to Head Coach Lance Niekro on being named the 2018 Florida Diamond Club College Coach of the Year. Niekro led the Moccasins to a 45-11-1 record last season that was capped by a regional title and a third-place finish in the NCAA Division II National Championship.
