The Great Religious Journey #Onceinalifetime

December 6th, 2016. Today I travel to the biggest Hindu temple in the world known as Angkor Wat in Krong Siem Reap, Cambodia. Angkor is a vast temple complex in Cambodia featuring the magnificent remains of several capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century AD. These include the famous Angkor Wat temple, the world’s largest single religious monument. Next travel to a holy town and sacred site; the city of Ayodhya. Ayodhya is the birthplace of Lord Rama this is why it is sacred to the hindu's. At the time, the site already contained a mosque that was built by the first Mughal emperor, called Babur.

December 8th, 2016. I just flew into Indonesia to visit the worlds most famous Buddhist temple, Borobudur. This 1,191 year old temple also happens to be the biggest Buddhist temple in the world. More then 500 Buddha statues are perched around the temple it is truly a site to see. This temple was also meant to be climbed and i was able to follow the path that people did 1000 years ago. Then I travel to the city of Lumbini in Nepal. This is believed to be the birthplace and the place of enlightenment for Bodh Gaya. Lumbini is a very calm city and is used for the pilgrimage fir the buddhists followers.

December 11th, 2016. I just came from the amazing Borobudur temple and now I am heading to the Western Wall, the holiest place where Jews are permitted to pray. This beauty is a whopping 1,601 feet long. That's longer than the Empire state building is tall! The Western Wall is located in Jerusalem. This western wall is made up of sandstone that was quarried in Jerusalem. This wall is a site to behold and is a great place to see Jew's practice their beliefs. Next I travel to "The Temple". The Temple was a permanent place of worship, and the place where people could atone for their sins. There was only one Temple, and that was in Jerusalem.

December 14th, 2016. I am going south of Jerusalem a sacred site to visit also well known town throughout the world. The place where Jesus Christ was born, the little town of Bethlehem. This little town though is no longer a little town it is now a bustling city with population of about 28,000 people. This is a fun place to be knowing that this is the birthplace of Jesus. Then I travel all the way over to Spain to visit the 3rd largest church in the world the Seville Cathedral. The central nave of the Seville cathedral stands 42 meters in height. The vast interior has grand decoration with gold. One of the major attraction of the cathedral is 45 wooden carved scenes from the life of Jesus Christ. It is the biggest altarpiece in the world. The Seville cathedral also has enormous chapels and choirs The La Giralda, minaret of the Almohad mosque still stand beside the cathedral, and is a sight to behold.

December, 22th, 2016. Today I travel to the city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia to visit Masjid al-Haram(Grand Mosque) the biggest islamic mosque in the world. It surrounds the Kaaba, the place which Muslims worldwide turn towards while offering daily prayers and is Islam's holiest place. It is about 88.2 that's about 356,800 square metres big! Not to far from where I am the Kaaba as I saw earlier is a sacred place for pilgrimage also called a Hajj. They have to do this t least once in his or her lifetime(travel to the sacred city of Mecca and complete the steps). During this they have to enter the city of Mecca then walk around the Ka'ba seven times (the tawaf, or circumambulation) while reciting the talbiya, then kisses or touches the Black Stone in the Ka'ba, prays twice towards the Station of Abraham and the Ka'ba and runs seven times between the small mountains of Safa and Marwa. Pretty intense stuff.

That wraps up my journey across the world of religion and it looks like I will be home in time for Christmas. So hope you enjoyed my blog and Merry Christmas.
