Global School Play Day

Feb. 4, 2015, was the first annual Global School Play Day for students in schools around the world. In the video above, Peter Gray clearly argues the case that today's kids do not grow up playing and this has negatively impacted them in many ways. It's time we return the gift of play to this generation. Get more information about Global School Play Day and how to participate here.

Digital Learning Day, Feb. 22, 2018

With so many new types of digital devices, educational software and mobile apps continuously developed, it’s hard to keep up with the latest and greatest advancements in educational technology. In some classrooms and out-of-school programs across the country, educators are doing some pretty amazing things with technology. Yet, these pockets of innovation are confined to a small number of schools and communities. Digital Learning Day was started as a way to actively spread innovative practices and ensure that all youth have access to high-quality digital learning opportunities no matter where they live.

Favorite Tool Updates

Padlet and Adobe Spark have made some great updates recently.

Padlet is a favorite digital bulletin board resource that just keeps getting better. You can now record video or audio, take photos or draw within a Padlet wall. You can read about all of the changes on their blog. Adobe Spark is a popular creative thinking tool that allows you to create posters, newsletters, videos and more. They recently announced that students under 13 can be granted access to their Adobe Creative Cloud services. Read the press release for more information about their education offerings to nurture creative problem-solving skills.

Chrome Extension: InsertLearning

InsertLearning is a Chrome extension that lets you turn websites into interactive lessons. Their toolbar is preloaded on their webpage so you can try it out without installing anything or signing up.
