Appreciation of Art at the Harn federico roye

In many works of art, one cannot truly appreciate it unless you see it in person. Such is the case with this series of vases in the Harn Museum of Art. By seeing these vases in person, one can truly appreciate the detail, especially the way the light reflects off these vases to highlight the beautiful colors, the intricate curves, and the smoothness of the handcrafted material that makes these vases so unique and wonderful. These vases were each made from different materials, by different artists and in different times and they are all so equally awe inspiring.

The Harn museum is designed to have each collection be separated by walls and walkways. What i found particularly interesting is how there is one large Gallery that is surrounded by other exhibits in a "U"-shape. As you go around the U, the collections vary by location; Africa, Latin America, Asia, etc. My favorite of which was the Latin American exhibit because I connected with it much more, due to my being Venezuelan. The art spoke to me more than the other collections because it reminded me of my own culture.

The Cast of Thousands, Serra Pelada, Brazil by Sebastiao Salgado showcases my core values of hard work and teamwork. The piece shows thousands of workers in Brazil working together to achieve a common goal. It was crowded and hot but they were working together to get the job done. The photograph takes place in a gold mine in Brazil and it reminds of the excruciatingly hard work that some people undergo for the smallest amount of wealth. It helps me understand the value of hard work and how working with others can help one reach their goals more easily.

This painting of Casita al Mar by Emilio Sanchez encompasses what I consider to be the good life. I do not need a big fancy mansion or enormous wealth to live the good life. I would be very content with my own family in a small house by the sea. There, I could love and laugh with those very precious to me while enjoying the majesty of nature. It shows what I would want to achieve in my version of the good life, which is serenity with those I love.
