Wrestler of the Year finalists
Chase Bunts, Sr., Crystal River
The four-year 113-pound varsity starter and four-time regional qualifier for the Pirates closed out an outstanding career with a second straight trip to the Class 1A FHSAA State Finals in Kissimmee. Although he didn’t get on the award stand like he wanted, Bunts finished the season 36-9 and picked up a victory at state.
Jason Graham, Sr., Crystal River
The Pirate heavyweight became a complete wrestler in his final season and capped off his career with a second trip to the Class 1A FHSAA State Finals in Kissimee. Like his teammate Bunts, Graham fell short of the medal stand, but did earn a win in the final tournament of the season and finished the year with an outstanding 39-9 mark.
Michael Porcelli, Jr., Citrus
The Hurricane junior qualified for the Class 2A FHSAA State Finals with a sparkling 44-4 record, but was unable to compete in Kissimmee. The Citrus pinning machine will be back one more year with plans on finishing on the mat at the state meet.
