The Cardiovascular system is made up of the heart, blood, and blood vessels. It's function is to transport gas, nutrients, cellular waste, clot blood and hormones. The blood carries them thoughtout the body.

There are different kinds of blood cell, red and white. The red blood cells carry oxygen and others to cells of the body. Hemoglobin is a protein that help with transporting gases. The white blood cells attacks and kills pathogens that entire the body. Plasma is the liquid in the blood. A platelet is a particle that clots blood.

Blood vessels- arteries, veins and capillaries. An artery carries blood away from the heart. The vein returns the blood back to the heart. A capillaries connects arteries and vein. The main artery is the aorta.

Like the veins in your eyes

A type of heart disease is Atherosclerosis in the arteries. It is a built up or a deposit of cholesterol. The symptoms are discomfort and short of breath.


How to keep your system healthy. Reduce the amount of fat and salt in diet, exercise and maintain weight. Avoid using tobacco products to keep blood pressure down. Blood pressure is the force of the blood on the artery.

The heart has four chambers that pumps blood and is also a muscle. The two upper chambers are atria. The bottom two are called ventricles. A surge of blood or pulse is from the pumping at the heart.
