What is emphysema?

Emphysema slowly damages the air sacs (alveoli) in your lungs, making you short of breath. Emphysema is one of several diseases known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

The main causes to get emphysema:

-Smoking tobbaco

-Marijuana smoking

-Air pollution

-Manufacturing fumes

You can emphysema for years and have no symptoms the main symptom is shortness of breath. Also whizzing, chest tightness, and other respiratory infections.


-Emphysema cannot be cured, but it can be treated to relieve the symptoms and slow down the process.

-Depending on your symptoms your doctor might suggest Bronchodilators, Inhaled steroids, Antibiotics. You can also get therapy and surgery to help this disease.

How you can prevent emphysema:

- Don't smoke and avoid breathing secondhand smoke

- Wear a mask if you are working around harmful fumes or dust
