Kindergarten is ready for Read Across America Week!

CALLING ALL FUTURE THUNDERBIRDS & The Class of 2030!

Do you have a Future Thunderbird? Does a neighbor have a student ready for Kindergarten? Our Kindergarten Open House is Wednesday, March 1st from 4pm to 6pm! Come join us to visit our campus, receive registration information, visit Kindergarten classrooms and meet a few teachers!

MIDDLE SCHOOL HONORS PROGRAM MEETINGS

Western Sky Middle School will host an Honors Information Meeting for incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students and parents interested in the Honors program. This event will take place Tuesday, March 7th at 5:30 PM in the WSMS media center. Applications for Honors are now available at the middle school, elementary schools, and on the district webpage. Please contact Ms. Ruff at 535-6300 with questions.

Wigwam Creek Middle School will be offering an Honors Program on Thursday, March 9th, at Wigwam Creek's Gym at 6:00 PM. The LESD Honors Program is appropriate for highly motivated students whose academic abilities/talents span across the entire curriculum. Please come hear more about the LESD Honors Program and our 6th Grade Traditional Academy. meet teachers and learn more about our programs. Honors applications are due to Wigwam Creek Middle School by Friday, March 24, 2017. Applications are available online at www.lesd.k12.az.us Click on the Academics tab, Click on Honors Program-Middle School.

Cardio Club has completed over 1,542 miles!

Students interested in Cardio Club participate every Tuesday and Thursday morning during recess (7:10-7:30 am). Cardio Club is open to all PVE students and no registration is required! Students just need to meet outside of the cafeteria to get their card. Prizes are awarded when students complete their first mile and then every five miles after that.

NEHS at Work in the Community

Last weekend our NEHS students participated in the Rancho Community Mobile Pantry along with St. Mary's Food Bank. Our students handed out Fresh Produce and Food to families in need! Thank you for your continued efforts to Change the World NEHS Thunderbirds!

Become a Parent Volunteer!

If you are looking to volunteer but haven't gone through training, PVE is having Volunteer Training Friday, March 3; Monday, March 6; Friday March 10; Friday, March 24 and Tuesday, March 28 starting at 7:50 AM. Also, training will be held Friday, March 31, immediately after the 8:00 Patriotic Assembly.

Speaking of Volunteering... we are looking for Volunteers to help out in the Copy Room! Please sign up below if you are willing and able!

Join our PTO at our Spring Parents Night Out at Haymaker Restaurant on Friday, March 3rd from 5:30pm - 8:00pm!

Appetizers will be provided, a Silent Auction will also be available for Principal for the Day, PE Teacher for the Day, Librarian for the Day as well as Front Row Seats for Kindergarten Promotion and 5th Grade Promotion!

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.

Avondale Care1st Center - 328 W. Western Ave. (623-333-2703) - this location has a drive up service where individuals can drop off their information and pick up their tax return at a later time. Services available Tuesdays from 5-7pm & Saturdays from 9-1pm.

Students in grades 3-5 will take the AzMERIT state assessment March 27 - March 29th

Tuesday , March 28th - Reading parts 1 and 2

Wednesday, March 29th - Math parts 1 and 2

During these 3 days we will have a Closed Campus.

During testing Palm Valley will be a closed campus for all grades and won't have volunteers in classrooms or have our lunchroom open to visitors.

Testing will be completed on Wednesday and we will be back to normal scheduled activities on Thursday.
