My learning diary PBL Course - armando pisani
My learning diary is in progress (I apologize for this).
The 2.1 module in PBL course refers to cooperation during lectures. I must admit that students are not required to collaborate among them during my lectures and this makes me quite sad. I do really hope that PBL course can help me to fix this problem.
2.4 Finding collaboration partners outside the classroom: I teach is an high school where some of my colleagues have already realized some e-twinning projects in collaboration with Austria relatively to foreign language curriculum. Personally I see this as the newest part for my, since in my experience, there is nothing similar in terms of teaching. My opinion the first approach to this activity should be easier if directed to an Italian school so that the students would not have problems due to language (but I do not want to be pessimistic). The area of interest and the subject could involve math or physics or natural sciences. We should try and see.
2.5 Collaborative tools:I am really surprised by a so large amount of tools I didn't knew before. Maybe I can add a reference to http://mahara.org as a collaborative and e-portfolio tool.I do really think that this PBL course is a gold mine of information concerning teaching technology. Thank you all very much.
3.0 Resilience: staying with problemsAfter my PhD I struggled hard to get a position as researcher at University, but I didn't succeed. Now I am happy of that failure, since it caused me to apply for the high school and all went ok. Now my students have shown me that this is really my job. I love them and since my very first day in school, I try to do my best to make my students evolve, grow up and became free independent thinking adults. It is a hard but wonderful work and there is a lot to learn. This is also the reason why I am enjoying this course. Thank you so much.
module 3.2 scaffonding students: When I introduce a topic to my students, I generally stress a strong point in my opinion: the only mistake you can do is not to try. The aim is not to win the game. The aim is to learn how to face and deal with problems. You will work out your own strategy and that's fine.
I HAVE TRIED THE QUIZ HOW RESILIENT ARE YOU. Here is the link:

Quiz: How Resilient Are You?
You got: You are quite resilient!
Resilience is a quality that helps us through daily stressors and major life crises. While some of our resilience is associated with inborn personality traits, there’s much you can do to develop your resilience level, and the resources below can help.
Your answers indicate that you have many traits and thinking habits that are associated with greater levels of resilience, which is a very good thing. You are likely more able to handle life's crises – both major and minor – and turn difficulties to your advantage, or at least weather them optimally. The resources below can help you to build even more resilience in your life, and help those in your life do the same
Reverse brainstorming:identify how we as teachers can weaken our student's confidence and independence. Use your own and others' reflections to help you create a classroom environment that supports students to become confident and independent learners:
I think that the worst mistake we teachers can make is to consider a negative outcome from a test/assignment as a judgement concerning the person not the performance. This is a very bad way we can deny the respect to our students.
