South of Scotland TREC Take the scenic route

South of Scotland TREC is a new affiliated club launched to promote TREC generally and in south Scotland specifically. Those involved are experienced competitors, both national and international, who are able to bring a wealth of knowledge to the new club. It is our aim to encourage new members from the South of Scotland to come along and enjoy this sociable sport we have found so rewarding and challenging.

Always take the scenic route

This winter we are running Arena TREC competitions at Kelburn, in North Ayrshire; and at Hyndshawland in South Lanarkshire, which will combine to give an overall SoS TREC winter league. Summer competitions are yet to be agreed, but there are ample opportunities and venues across our broad region. The team at SoS TREC have already organised many summer competitions at all four levels of TREC, including the Scottish Championships.

Training is being organised for the PTV obstacles, for the Control of Paces, plus map reading and compass work. Hyndshawland and Kelburn are wonderful venues for training in every aspect of TREC, including the orienteering. Amongst those offering training, we have a member of the British team, fresh back from the World Championships in Spain, and the current British Champion. There are other trainers waiting in the wings eager to help.
