The Game Boy Color TFT LCD is a drop-in display upgrade for your Game Boy console. No soldering or shell modification is required to complete this mod. The only thing you will need is a screwdriver (tri-wing or phillips head for most consoles).

Tutorial

Preparation

If you are using an original Game Boy Color, remove the 6 screws from the back of the unit and set aside. Remove the internal components including the buttons, pads, PCB and screws. Clear your shell and buttons if you are not replacing with new ones.

Add you spacers and TFT LCD to inside of the front shell. Please note: Our spacers were designed to be a snug fit for most shells although not all shells are the same you and the fit might be looser or tighter then desired based on the manufacturer of the shell.
Fold the cable coming from the bottom of the LCD up and insert into the PCB board as shown. Add the smaller ribbon cable with the orientation as shown above.
Flip the PCB board cover and align in the Game Boy Color housing. This is a good time to add kapton tape between the LCD and PCB board to prevent any components from touching the metal back of the screen.

Insert the touch sensor into the port as shown. This will be used to cycle between brightness settings when your case is all buttoned up.

Most modders will place this touch sensor near the IR port on the top left of the housing.

Add your plastic A, B, D-Pad, power switch and IR port cover. Make sure those buttons are aligned before closing up the case. This is a great time to install a new speaker and speaker ring if you desire.
Insert the top ribbon cable into the back of the PCB board, making sure to press the black tabs down after insrting.
Replace the back portion of the shell and screw the two halves together. Make note of the touch sensor placement in at the top right of the photo
