What you need to know about fires!

First all people are affected by fires they are all around us and they kill about 3000 people a year. Another thing that you should always do during a fire is drop down and crawl to the nearest exit. If you have to open a door you always want to make sure the handle isn't too hot. Also always have a meeting spot if there was a fire.

Electrical Appliances, Cords, Outlets

  • Make sure you have good quality equipment
  • Don't overload outlets
  • Don't over use extension cords
  • Make sure you have the correct wattage in bulbs
  • Replace or repair anything that smells, sparks, or overheats
  • Use caution with electric blankets

Kitchen Saftey

  • Never leave the oven/stove on
  • Don't leave the oven/stove unsupervised
  • If the food on the stove catches on fire put the pot's lid over it and turn off the stove this will put the fire out.

Cigarettes

  • Don't ever smoke in a building
  • Never smoke on any furniture
  • Never smoke near anything flammable

Matches/Lighters

  • Never hand them over to children
  • Keep away from flammable objects
  • Always be aware when lighting candles/fires
