I grew up In what I call the best place on earth... New York City... The capital of the world... The Big apple! Although I was not born in New York, I consider myself a new Yorker. We moved to this majestic place when I was 10 years old and it's here were I learned what New York values are. It's here where I discovered the three rules I live by.
"New York is a place build by the backbreaking work of immigrants, immigrants like you and me. New York values are the Statue of Liberty 'Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me: I lift my lamp beside the golden door.' In New York, we pride ourselves of our diversity. I will never lose the values that New York and my family have given me. As New Yorkers, we understand what New York values really mean. We believe in the value of hard work, equality, and a society where the American dream works for all… and the truth is New York values are American values, there is no difference."
As any kid growing up I wanted to be what my imagination would allow me to be... I wanted to be an astronaut, an archaeologist, a singer, an actor, a film director, and now that I am a grown up I still want to do all those things... However my passion for persuading my dreams have led me to BYU where I am getting my under grad for News Media...
I moved to Utah about two years ago to continue my education. It was here where I discovered my passion for News media and my passion to serve others. My short term goal is to become a news anchor for the two major Spanish networks here in the US. My long term goals is to eventually get into law school and then politics.
No Regrets, or as French Singer Edith Piaf would say... "Non, Je ne regrette rien!" I have learned that living in the past can be the most painful thing one can do... What's in the past stays there and cannot be undone. I have learned that I can only move forward and I have the power to change my future. sure there are things I've done in the past that I wish I could go back and change; however, I have also learned to let go and learn from my mistakes and continue to move forward.
No Fear. As mortal beings we are bound to feel fear, it is part of being human. We fear the unknown. I have leaned it's something we have to battle everyday. It's not an easy battle but when in doubt I remember these wise words, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
Finally, Love. "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is to love and be loved in return." It truly comes down to love when we seek those joys along the journey. whether it's the love from a parent to a child or love for a significant other. It's this feeling that keeps us going... Love is what lifts us up, Love is worth fighting for, love is worth saving, love is what saves us... "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
it's those three things that I'd like to continue to live my life by, until the day I die and make an impact in my community as a person who cares and is concerned with my surroundings. I would like to serve my community As I begin my journey in the world of news media... Whether I stick to News media or law or politics I am here to make a difference and serve others.
