The Sporty Alchemist BY: Rebecca blair

"You dominated those horsemen with way you looked at them"

This passage inspired me as an athlete, because I feel like I can tell how a player is through their eyes. Whether it be the intimdation level or the skill level they have. I believe that as a player you can feel if you will dominate the game by the way you use your eyes.

"I'm afraid that if my dream is realized, I'll have no reason to go on living."

I have been an athletic girl since I can remember, always outside doing an activity. But I was most importantly doing what I loved, and what made me the happiest as most athletes do. We fear that our dreams will vanish, losing a championship, getting hurt, season ending, it is all a fear. It stops us from going all out and doing what we are capable of. Losing the ability to do what you love and can't live without can really affect oneself.

"It's the simple things in life that are the most extraordinary."

Sports are some of the best, unforgettable days of an athletes life. I know for me there is nothing that I would want to be doing more than going out with some of my bestfriends, making memories, and doing what makes us and others proud. It is one of the most simple things in life and yet we would do anything we humanly could to go out and hit, throw, or kick a ball. It is what makes person so special in life. It gave us athletes so much power and makes us feel like we can take on the world and yet it is so simple.

"I've known that every hour was a part of the dream that I would find it."

This quote really stood out to me, because all of my games are only an hour, but within that hour I'm living my dream. I am learning more about myself as an athlete, and inspiring myself and other all within 1 hour. 60 minutes and I am that much closer to becoming a college field hockey player. 60 minutes I am that much closer to doing interviews and playing in the Olympics. As a player I get closer and closer to my dream withing one hour of play.

"We have to take advantage when luck is on our side."

Being an athlete is something that is an opportunity that not every one gets. Not every person gets the chance that I do to play sports. Being the athlete I am, I take advantage of every single chance to get better. The luck is on my side in this case, I want to be the best player I can possibly be.
