This is the only day in the Christian calendar without a season. It isn’t technically Lent, that ended last night. It isn’t Eastertide, that starts tomorrow. If we’re commemorating the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ, then at this point, he’s suffered and died but hasn’t risen yet. Today, there is no resurrection, no hope for eternity, no purging of our sins or cleansing us before God. There is no church, no fellowship of believers, just a scattering of grieved ex-followers (all Jesus’ students pretty much quit school yesterday and there is no make-up test on the schedule).
So, what do we do today? I don’t know. Whatever you want really. But something doesn’t feel right, in my honest opinion.
