Marlene's recipe for happiness

Happiness is temporary state of mind. If you experienced pain or suffering, you could experience true happiness. When a family member is sick, I suffer from discomfort and pain, but when I hear that they are well, I am tremendously happy. I learned that when you are grateful, you always lead a happy life. If you find that the meaning of your life is to be of service to other people, you will experience happiness.

Success has its subjectivity. Success is not a status, power, or position it is an accomplishment of a task. The problem with success is that it is a mindset. Perspective matters. What one person views as successful, the other person could see as failure. Success is a continuous journey to triumph. It is the very pursuit of that triumph is what pushes us to move forward. Success gives extraordinary happiness when you work hard to achieve it.

It is in our human nature to seek for the sense of belonging. They say that no man is an island, and I agree with that statement. When we let others into our lives, we serve a purpose and we are connected.

Learn to celebrate little things..... Celebrate togetherness.

Celebrate family... Celebrate love...

A couple years ago, a friend invited me to train for a 12 mile race with obstacles (climbing, swimming, etc). I have not done anything that strenuous in my life. It is called the Tough Mudder, Wounded Warrior Project. Since it was for a great cause, I agreed. I trained and worked so hard to be in good shape after giving birth to my twins. I finished the 12 mile barely walking and I have never ever felt so successful in a task that I had set up my mind to in that moment. That moment had passed, I felt proud but I must keep moving forward. I used that moment as an inspiration to never underestimate your will power.

The word that resonated with me the most in our readings was “balance.” When people try to put a priority of money, employment, education, or even happiness only will cause an imbalance and suffering. Suffering is pain or discomfort. From one of our reading, What Success Does mentioned that “People shoot for happiness but feel formed through suffering.” This means that when people experience pain, they set up limitations for themselves. They learn to control the things within their reach. He also stated that people who experienced suffering do not come out healed; they come out as a different person.

Children are the most carefree people in the world. They are too innocent to carry any burden in the world. Sometimes, you just have to find that inner child in you and have fun....

I believe that life is meaningful and that every single person can make a difference in the world or another person’s life. I was taught to think about others before you think about yourself which is in direct conflict of what I hear in teachings now a days. When you are empathetic of other people’s needs, you will feel more rewarded. It is unselfish and it is contagious.

The motivation that my friend unselfishly offered me made me appreciate everything around me. You can make a difference in people's lives.

When you smile at the world, the world will smile back at you.

Be grateful for something everyday. Celebrate life.....

Love can be found in unexpectedly.....
