What an action packed month we’ve just had at Chapel Downs. The students and teaching team all loved maths week and it was wonderful to share our maths programme during our open morning.
This term our senior students have been investigating animals and they enjoyed an exciting trip to the Auckland Zoo. The children all behaved brilliantly and were a real credit to Chapel Downs. The staff at Auckland Zoo were amazed by our students wonderful manners.
In the next three weeks the Junior School inquiry focus will be the Children’s Pop Up Museum. This is an opportunity for the children to share their interests, special objects or hobbies, such as club sports or dance and music.
It would be great if the children could bring in an object that is related to their interest. Teachers will look after any items brought in and keep them safe. If possible, please write your child’s name on the item.
On the 26th of September we will be inviting parents to come and see our museums. More information about this will be sent out closer to the date.
Last month we sent two teams to represent Chapel Downs in the Vector EPro8 Challenge. The students spent the day on Science, Technology, and Engineering problem solving challenges competing against schools from throughout Auckland. Our students displayed outstanding team work, investigating skills and perseverance throughout the day.
Maths Open Morning
It was wonderful to see so many parents and whanau supporting our children and participating in our daily maths programme. The children really loved sharing their learning and they certainly are very proud to have visitors in their classrooms.

Last month we took the Y5 & Y6 librarians as well as some super keen readers to the Storylines Story Tour Event as part of the Storylines Festival. What Now TV were recording the event and some snippets from the the day were on What Now last Sunday.
We were gifted all the books in the photo below by the sponsors of the Storylines festival. These new books have been added to our library for all our children to enjoy.
