Hawaii is the only state made entirely from islands. Hawaii is made of about 132 islands and islets. The eight main islands are a chain of Hawaii, Maui, Oahu, Kauai, Molokai, Lana, Niihau, Kahoolawe. These islands are tons of undersea volcanoes.

It is about 2,400 miles from the Western coast of U.S. mainland. Hawaii is 2,000 miles Southwest of California. The land is at sea level. Mauna Loa 13,680 feet high. Mauna Kea is Hawaii's largest peak at (13,796 feet) The average temperature in July is 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

The capitol of Hawaii is Honolulu. Polynesian people were the first to settle. In 1894 the republic of Hawaii was created by Americans. Most of Hawaii's population is Asian. Barak Obama was born in Honolulu. According to a legend a man named Hawaii Loa discovered the Hawaiian islands. The island were formed from volcanoes and were built up millions of years ago.

1,193,000 people live in Hawaii, and 386,000 people live in the capitol Honolulu. The state of Hawaii is known as the Aloha state. Aloha means hello, goodbye, and love. The state symbol was adopted in 1959. The famous King Kamehameha the famous Hawaiian king was first to unite the Hawaiian islands. The goddess of liberty is to the right of the seal. She stands for Hawaiian liberty. The life of the land perpetuated in righteousness. ( UA.MAU.KE.EA.OKA.AINA.I.KA.PONO) The Hawaiians named the yellow hibiscus the state flower in 1923.

Hawaii is a long string of islands in the middle of the pacific ocean. Hawaii up of 132 islands. These islands are tops of ancient undersea volcanoes. As the volcanoes erupted lava built up to reach above the sea level.
