Rupert McCall
1. Who you are and what you do? I am a modern day Australian poet and storyteller who somehow makes a living out of it!
2. What Respect means to you? To me, ‘respect’ embraces the quality of treating every person fairly no matter who they are or where they come from. If that person steps forward with good intentions and is prepared to make a contribution which adds something positive to the world, then he or she will have my full respect. Respect doesn’t make a big noise nor can it be bought, sold or manufactured. It must be earnt, appreciated and not taken for granted.
3. When you have experienced respect or what you hope for our communities? I feel the ultimate aura of respect at every Anzac Day Dawn Service I attend on the Redcliffe Peninsula. The respect of a community coming together as one to show their humble gratitude for the qualities of courage, endurance, mateship and sacrifice.
