A Totally Unpredictable /Predictable Year

Last year in the Upper School opening assembly, I began by saying, and I quote, “it’s a great pleasure to see you all sitting in front of me, and it’s exciting to think about all that lies ahead — some of which is totally predictable but more of which is completely unknown.” Turns out that I was right and the completely unknown probably far exceeded the totally predictable last year. It certainly exceeded my expectations, at least for the last quarter of the school year.

This Week

This Week at Wheeler: Our tradition of the Opening Assembly continued thanks to our Upper School students' creativity. Parents and guardians are invited to register for a virtual panel on College Admissions in the Age of COVID. We looked into how classrooms leverage Owl technology to offer an inclusive experience for our at-home learners, and Vanessa O'Driscoll, Middle School Director asks, What will we remember? We are using every inch of both campuses to ensure healthy and safe learning environments for all students, teachers, and staff. Our Physical Education Department and Kindergarten are just two examples of how we are staying distant yet keeping our curriculum's innovation and charm close. Upper School Athletics has begun, and we can't wait to celebrate another exciting year for our Warriors, starting with Girls Tennis - their first game is October 3rd!

Important tidbits

Is your information correct? The use of the new Safety App uncovered some inconsistencies in the data we have in our parent portal. At the moment, the two data systems are not connected. We encourage all families to sign in to the Wheeler website portal and check that the biographical information for guardians and children is correct. - Karie Hayes, Technology Director.

Flu Clinic: This year's flu clinic will take place on 10/15 and 10/21 for faculty, staff, and students. Each individual must have an appointment time; no walk-ins with paper registration forms this year.

Families should reserve a time for their student in the time block assigned for each grade as noted in the links below.

We will be sending more information about the flu clinic soon, use the registration link below to sign up. - The Wheeler School Health Center
