Point of Care Station UM Docs health fair training

At the end of this training module, students will know how to:

  1. Correctly finger stick
  2. Correctly extract blood in a capillary tube and generally work the PoC machine, and
  3. Document information for REDCap.

Secondarily students will also know:

  1. How to determine whether a patient is in a high risk category for lipids-coronary disease or diabetes
  2. High risk numbers for diabetes
  3. How to assess when a patient needs a repeat test because information provided by the device is not sufficient or erroneous.

This module provides a series of training modules, covering a general introduction to the station, the REDCap form for the station, and a technical video demonstrating how to take blood samples and perform the point of care testing. Students are expected to view all videos, and to pass (80% or higher) the knowledge check quiz on Qualtrics at the end of the module, prior to the in-person training for the health fair. You can contact the station manager or the DOCS RQI team if you have any questions. Good luck!

A link to the quiz, hosted on Qualtrics, is below. The quiz is 5 questions, and you are expected to correctly answer at least 4 of the questions (80%). Please screenshot your results and keep it for your records. Your station manager should already have a list, from Qualtrics, of all volunteers who completed the quiz.

The Point of Care Station online module was made possible through the support of DOCS and the DOCS Research and Quality Improvement (RQI) team.
