SCHOOLS JEWELLERY DESIGN COMPETITION 2022 - Protect our Planet! city of glasgow college

A Jewellery design competition by the Craft & Design Department at City of Glasgow College for pupils of Secondary schools in Scotland

Design Brief

Use your imagination and creativity to design a pendant highlighting Climate Change and it effect on the Environment. The design should be in silver and be presented as a drawing. You can draw your design by hand or create it on the computer. The design can be contemporary or traditional in style.

Be Creative! We want to see YOUR imagination.
If you are interested in a career in the Jewellery industry this competition will offer you experience of working through the creative process involved in designing items of jewellery.

The prizes

The winner will have their design 3D Printed in our state of the art workshops and cast using recycled silver by Vipa Designs!

2nd and 3rd runners up will receive personalised certificates and there will be a highly commended certification

A panel of judges consisting of jewellery tutors at The City of Glasgow College, Ebba Goring Director of Goldsmith's Trust and Peter Crump, MD of Vipa Designs and Chairman of the Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Council, will review all entries and select the winning design.

How to enter

  • The competition is open to anyone under the age of 18 and still at school in Scotland
  • There are two categories: S1-S3 and S4-S6
  • Entries must be submitted by Friday 25th
  • February 2022 by emailing a jpg of the final design to lisa.McGovern@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk including the entrant's name, year and school.
  • Name the jpg with the entrant's name
  • By submitting an entry, consent is given for the drawing and details to be shared on The City of Glasgow College website and associated social media channels.
  • One winner from each category will be selected and contacted via email by Friday 25th March 2022.
