Did You Know?

Bridgerland Technical College, area high schools, and Utah State University have partnered to bring stackable degree options to northern Utah.

Students have more options than ever at Bridgerland Technical College. High school juniors and seniors can dual-enroll at BTECH, tuition free, to start working toward their certificates. Graduates of Bridgerland Technical College can utilize their skills training by starting their careers right away, or they can transfer their certificate of completion to USU for 30 credit hours toward an A.A.S. degree, which can lead right into a bachelor of science degree.

Case Study: Meet John

John completed the Automated Manufacturing Program at Bridgerland Technical College. He started BTECH in high school, then transferred his certificate of completion to Utah State University where he is working toward a Bachelor of Science in Technology Systems.

John Saved Time

John took advantage of the option for high school juniors and seniors to dual-enroll at Bridgerland Technical College. He worked hard and completed most of his certificate during high school. John finished the rest of his Bridgerland classes two months after graduating, then transferred his certificate of completion to Utah State University. His certificate counted as 30 credit hours, so John got to skip his freshman year and start as a sophomore in the fall.

John will complete his degree at USU in less time thanks to his Bridgerland certificate!

John Saved Money

John knew that high school juniors and seniors can attend Bridgerland Technical College tuition-free. He also knew that “free” is a very good deal. When he graduated from high school, he received a scholarship that paid for the rest of the classes he needed to finish his certificate.

John paid $0 in tuition for his Bridgerland certificate!

John Saved Even More Money

John was able to get free tuition twice! By transferring his certificate of completion from Bridgerland Technical College to Utah State University, he got to skip his freshman year—30 credit hours—which saved him thousands of dollars.

He did the math:

  • Amount paid for tuition at Bridgerland: $0
  • Amount paid for freshman year at USU: $0

He determined that free tuition twice is a very, very good deal.

John saved thousands of dollars at USU thanks to his Bridgerland certificate!

John’s Skills are In Demand

John’s hands-on training at Bridgerland Technical College gave him skills that employers want. With his impressive resume, he had options. He could start his career right away or pursue additional education. He chose to continue his education, but with an added bonus: the skills he acquired at BTECH helped him get a higher paying job to support himself while he finishes his degree at USU.

John likes having more career options and earning power because of his skills!
