Greater Atlanta Day Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority Summer 2018

2018 Georgia State Day

On Saturday, July 14th, 2018, eighty-eight Kappa Deltas gathered at Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta to celebrate Georgia State Day.
Brownie Troop #17512 kicked off the event by conducting an Opening Flag Ceremony.

This year’s theme was “Kappa Delta ~ Making a Difference.” Leading up to the event, alumnae stories about KDs making a difference in Georgia and beyond were spotlighted on the KD State Day GA Facebook page and compiled into a newsletter.

We were delighted to have Tove Thomas, National Vice President - Alumnae, share greetings from the National Council and Sara Cullins, Director of Development for the Kappa Delta Foundation, highlight how each member can impact the future of KD.
Anne Miller, Greater Augusta Alumnae Chapter and National Leadership Team - Collegians (top left), introduced collegiate chapter representatives LeAnn Davis, Epsilon Gamma (top right), Lauren Cobb, Eta Omega (bottom left), and Kiara Robinson, Delta Psi (bottom right), who each shared how their chapters are making a difference on campus and in the community.
The keynote address, delivered by Mary Anne Percy Meeks, Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter, celebrated Kappa Deltas who have made a difference in her life and that of the sorority over the years.
Cynthia Weston, Third Alternate Delegate , National Panhellenic Conference and North Fulton / Cumming Alumnae Chapter (top left) led the Circle Ceremonies where alumnae in attendance were recognized for membership milestones and welcomed into the Nautilus (25 years), White Rose (50 years), and Emerald (60 years) Circles. Tove Thomas gave each circle member a white rose.

Thanks to the generous donations made to the Kappa Delta Foundation, Georgia alumnae established the inaugural Georgia State Day Scholarship, which raised more than $3,800! This is enough to award three scholarships to undergraduate Kappa Deltas attending a college or university in Georgia at next summer's Kappa Delta Convention in Dallas, Texas! We hope to see you there to observe the excitement on the girls faces when the scholarship is awarded!

Your 2018 Georgia State Day Co-Chairs (from left to right) Linda Brownlee, Dot Mears and Joy Hugick thank those of you who attended this special Kappa Delta occasion, especially those sisters (and spouses) who volunteered their time and talents to help make this year's event a success. A special shout out to Amy Becham for the programs and name badges and Karen Blackwood for the beautiful flowers.
