Flags of our fathers By james bradley

Flags of Our Fathers is a historical book written by James Bradley who is the son of John Bradley who was one of the flag raisers on top of Mt. Suribachi.
Main event- John Bradley, Ira Hayes,Harold Schultz, Michael Strank, Franklin Sousle and Rene Gagnon climed to the top of Mt. Suribachi and raised the US flag over the island of Iwo Jima to show the US victory.
John Bradley is the main character of the novel. He is from a small town in Wisconsin and wants to own his own funeral home some day. His plan was to join the US Navy and have a non combat job but, he was put in a Marine division as a combat medic. He gained the nick-name "Doc" by his friends and he also risked his life many times to save others.
I learned many things from this book such as the names of the men who raised the flag on the island, how the US invaded the island and how the Japanese would stop at nothing till they win.
I give this book 5 stars because it was filled with action and heroism but, it also showed respect to the men that climbed the mountain and raised the flag.
