Our topic - Galápagos Expedition - has been Geography-based. We have learnt a variety of geography skills
We learnt the 8-points of a compass. We went to Mapplewell Park to practise this skill by using a compass to navigate between several points.
We learnt how to use 6-Figure grid referencing to locate the habitats of different wildlife on the Galápagos Islands.
We learnt how to interpret a topographical map and explored the use of contour lines and cross sections.
We also learnt about tectonic plates and the three different plate boundaries: convergent, divergent and transform. Did you know the Galápagos Islands are volcanoes formed 4.2 million years ago?
In PE this half term, we have been playing netball. We have developed our passing and shooting skills.
We have also learnt the positions and roles of all the player in a game of netball.
PHSE & RSE
In PHSE we have been learning about family and relationships. We have been learning to resolve conflict, through negotiation and compromise and about respect, understanding that everyone deserves to be respected.
In September, we were fortunate enough to be visited by Barnsley MP - Dan Jarvis. It was an extremely valuable experience as we were able to ask him a variety of questions about his career, life experiences and future plans.
In just our second week back, we visited Robin Wood to take part in lots of residential activities: zip-wire, piranha pool and giant swing just to name a few!
It has been a fantastic half term jam-packed with lots of hard work and fun!
