Computer Applications Lauren vonStetten

Introduction: I chose to take this class to improve my knowledge of computer applications, literally. I wanted to learn to be able to better use computers from my own convenience as well as becoming more able to improve the quality of my work. I initially was interested because I needed computer credits, but this seemed like a good option to fill those credits. The most important thing I have learned in this class is the use of Microsoft Office Suite. This will be very useful in the future and is helpful to make my work more polished and efficient.

Microsoft Office Suite: For this project we went through Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, exploring the uses and all the features. We went through many tutorials and practiced all the tools we learned. This allowed us to expand our knowledge of the program and how we can use it in the future to make polished and professional work.

Google Applications: Using Google Applications gave us a deeper look into Google Apps and the uses. As high schoolers we use it multiple times per day and in all of our classes. Although we use it very frequently, we only know what we have to. That being said, there are many features that go unnoticed, and this gave us a chance to find out more about the things we don't already know. This will improve our quality of work and make using Google Applications much easier.

Cover Letter: Having us do a cover letter helps us greatly. This is something we otherwise would not be expected to know how to do. Putting this into the curriculum allowed us to learn about the different aspects of things we don't use now, but will be expected to know later in our lives.

Conclusion: This course has helped me very much overall. My typing has improved, and I am much more effective in working on computers and now have the tools to do just about any project and the knowledge of in depth information on many applications such Microsoft Office and Google Applications. These will help better my work and the time it takes me to do these things.
