ABOUT PROTOJE

There is an exciting resurgence of conscious, organic music in Jamaica, and industry experts and observers agree that Protoje, born Oje Ken Ollivierre, is a forefront figurehead in what has become known as “The Reggae Revival.” Leading the militant band - The Indiggnation - this powerful songwriter and philosophical thinker articulates the righteous anger of an emerging generation. Protoje reports for duty, re-establishing the standard for the decaying art of socially responsible, mentally stimulating lyricism.

Protoje has successfully released four studio albums: his debut album THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH (2011), THE 8 YEAR AFFAIR (2013) which spawned the hits “Rasta Love” ft Ky-Mani Marley, and “Kingston Be Wise” which featured on the soundtrack for the video game Grand Theft Auto; ANCIENT FUTURE (2015) which featured the international hit “Who Knows” ft Chronixx which topped charts worldwide and has amassed over 70 million+ views on YouTube; and the Grammy nominated A MATTER OF TIME (2018) with the inclusion of previously released tracks “Blood Money” (hailed by Jamaican Radio Personality and Pan African Activist Mutaburuka as the number one reggae song of 2017), “Truths & Rights” featuring rising crooner Mortimer, and the fast-rising single “Bout Noon”.

Overview of the ‘A Matter of Time’ Concert

Protoje's fourth studio album A Matter of Time, released June 29, 2018, debuted at number 1 on the Reggae Billboard Charts and has since been nominated for Best Reggae Album at the 61st Grammy Awards. Comprised of 10 tracks, it features Jamaican Reggae stars Chronixx and Mortimer. The genre-bending album brings together a fruitful and unique sound of Hip-Hop, Reggae, Dub and R&B - which makes it not your typical Reggae album. As such, the aim of this concert is to translate this in a live setting to continue to inspire and spread the messages of love, forgiveness and truths and rights for the culture and make it a staple event for Reggae Month 2019.

While Protoje will be the main act, it will feature performances from the other featured artistes on the album - Chronixx and Mortimer, plus performances from other special guests.

FOR THE CULTURE (2017)

2017’s concert, For the Culture, over 1000 patrons came out to experience Protoje and the Indiggnation live.

OBJECTIVES OF AMOT CONCERT

Connecting with the Jamaican Audience - This is in an effort to uplift, maintain and build Protoje’s fanbase in Jamaica.

Promotion of A Matter of Time album - After traveling on tour for, on and off, 8 months in the USA, Europe and United Kingdom, its time to come home and present the album to the Jamaican audience, in an effort to strengthen and present Reggae in its most genuine and futuristic form.

Contribute to local socio-economic development - The A Matter of Time concert also aims to compensate and reward the participating and organizing interns as we strive to make our contribution to the cultural and creative industries’ sustainability as well as create job inclusive opportunities for the Jamaican youth.
