Aidan Danels, "Honey Kiss," Digital Painting Printed on Canvas, 24 x 16 in.

My art is my way of figuring out my own life and the world around me. I start each piece the same way I go into almost everything: with little to no plan. This way, my art conveys the same emotions and energy of curiosity and spontaneity that go into the process of making it. Due to Pratt Institute’s goal to push students out of our comfort zones and my own inquisitive personality, my art includes visual works both traditional, like colored pencil or charcoal on paper, and new-age or experimental in nature, like digital paintings and ink painted done with strips of cardboard. The goal of my work is to convey the emotions and sensations I experience in different situations and environments and to open people up to feeling them too. I emphasize, not necessarily objectively significant, but impactful moments in my life that I relate to the overall human experience.
