Important Dates
Fall screening 1st grade and 2nd grade October 15th - November 2nd. Midyear Screening: 3rd-5th Grade December 3rd-14th. GATES classes may be shortened or cancelled during screening dates.
1st Grade has been working on learning Depth and Complexity icons. We used the details icon to share important details about ourselves. We used the topic of birthday parties to introduce the details, rules, language of the discipline and changes over time icons. Students made a video of their work and posted it on SeeSaw. Be sure to check out your child's SeeSaw account to view their video!
In 2nd Grade we have been working on learning Depth and Complexity icons. We used recess to introduce the icons of rules, language of the discipline, details and ethics. We also took a quiz to see if we are right or left brain thinkers. Students researches characteristics of left/right brain thinkers and created are creating a video to showcase their learning. Once they are finished, they will post the video in their SeeSaw account.
3rd grade has been working using depth and complexity icons by sharing some details, perspectives and unanswered questions they have by creating an "All about me" pennant. They also took a personality test to find out what "True Color" they are. They created a video to share their learning. Ask your child to show you their video. 4th Grade created an "All About Me Pennant" using the Depth and Complexity Icons. They also took the Multiple Intelligence Test to see how they learn best. They created a video to showcase their learning. We are now working on a digital escape room and some students are creating their OWN escape room! I am looking forward to an exciting year! 1st and 2nd grade will be using SeeSaw to share their work with you. I have sent QR codes home with all 1st and 2nd graders so be sure to check out their work. If you need another copy, please let me know. 3rd - 5th grade will be posting all their work in the Eportfolio under their GATES page so be sure to ask them to show you their work.
