My Digital Portfolio By Allie Goodin

I have loved art for as long as I can remember. From the time I could hold a pencil, I was always writing, drawing, and creating. Art has always spoken to me. So in middle school, I have taken every opportunity I can to take classes that help me develop as an artist. The following is a portfolio of my work.

When I was two, my parents put a smock on me and gave me paint. I went crazy. I absolutely loved the way I was able to do whatever I wanted, to let my imagination run free.

For the class I am currently taking, Modern Design, I designed a logo and packaging for the dancewear company, Capezio. I am a dancer (which is another way for me to express myself), so this company is very important to me. When I dance, I feel like no one can touch me. I can stand tall and let my confidence shine through without worrying what other people think of me. I really wanted to build off of this idea when designing Capezio’s packaging. I wanted to capture how dancers don't fold in on themselves and always stand tall. My bag does not have any folds, is very tall, and won't bend under the words and judgements of others.

Also, I took a class last year called Crafts. This is where I designed my teepee. When my brother and I were younger, my dad built us a teepee in our backyard. This was a place where we spent a lot of time and made a lot of memories, so I really wanted to showcase this in my art.

In Crafts, we also made baskets. I made my basket by rolling up pieces of magazine and gluing them together with a hot glue gun.

This is the art creative process. My favorite parts are creating and planning. These are the parts when I feel I am able to let my creativity shine through. These are the steps.

I enjoy creating because it lets me see my ideas come to life. This picture shows me working on my package design for Capezio.

I also enjoy the planning portion of the art creative process. This is when my best ideas come to me, and it is always fun to play around with designs.

A few summers ago, my family went to Paris. While there, I was fortunate enough to be able to appreciate Monet's "The Water Lily Pond". I absolutely loving this painting. It is so simple, yet so beautiful. Monet is one of my favorite artists because of this painting.

In the future, I hope to continue with art classes. Art is a way for me to express myself and have fun. Even though I don't want to pursue art as a career, I hope to always have art as an outlet from life.

The End
