The Baker Blast November 7, 2020

100% Virtual Learning for All Students

Baker Family, as many of you are aware, we will be shifting to 100% virtual learning for all students Kindergarten to 12th grade Monday, November 9th. Our shift to the virtual learning format is related to challenges with staffing. Dr. Machesky shared that there may be instances where the district needs to turn the “dial back” with our Return to learn Plan and this is one of them. We do not know how long this will last. We appreciate your flexibility and patience with the process.

Bell Schedule

While we are in the virtual format, we will continue to follow our current Hybrid Bell Schedule. Students will continue to access their classes through their Schoology/Zoom links. Please see the schedule listed below.

Upcoming Dates

Please note that there will be no live instruction on Wednesday, Nov. 11th. This has been designated as an Asynchronous Instruction: Wellness Wednesday. Students will access their lessons on Schoology using a flexible schedule.

Health Screener

While we are in the virtual learning format, you DO NOT have to complete the daily health screener in Powerschool. We will continue to use it when we move back into in-seat learning.

7th & 8th Grade Girls Basketball Tryouts

7th & 8th Grade Girls Basketball Tryouts were postponed to Monday, November 16th. Details were shared in a separate communication from the coaches. If you are interested in trying out or have questions, please contact Coach Quinn at cquinn@troy.k12.mi.us.

Even during these unusual times, the Baker Middle School yearbook team is working hard to create a yearbook that is one-of-a-kind and reflects the unique moments that students are experiencing this year.

Our book will focus on this unique learning experience. We will be emailing students for interviews and photos so be on the lookout for requests.

Thank you in advance for all of your support.
