Above: This week we had our last ALL IN Celebration. We were fortunate to have great weather and were able to use the outdoor space on our patio. Our students had a great time creating memories with our volunteer Baker Family parents.

ALL IN Celebration

We had our last ALL IN Celebration Friday, May 31st. Several volunteer parents were in attendance, helping supervise and participated in the activities. The celebration took place in our flag hallway and patio. We were fortunate to have great weather and were able to set up our rolling tables for ping pong, sidewalk chalk, dodgeball, shuffleboard, football, bubbles, kickball, 4 square, and kids were running the track.

Our work room was set up in a classroom, where students had the opportunity to create with Legos, Knex, Makedo cardboard building, Perler Beads, and braided plastic ribbon. Our Baker robotics team brought in their robot and had the opportunity to recruit new members. We plan to host our ALL IN Celebrations again next year and invite you to participate and actively engage with our Baker Family. We appreciate Oakland Schools & TFEE for providing resources to make this a huge success!

Baker Book Club

Here is a snapshot of our reading this year! We recommend you add these titles (and more) to your summer reading list!

Baker Book Club had another successful year! Not only did we read, discuss and share recommendations with one another, we also contributed to March is Reading Month by organizing our Book Drive and Need a Book, Take a Book event. In addition, we donated all money raised during our bake sale to the book mural fundraiser. We hope to kick-off next school year with another bake sale to raise money for books. In case you’d like to help us meet our goal, please consider donating to our Donors Choose project:

Sports Physicals 2019-2020

Troy School District will be offering an opportunity for student athletes to get a Sports Physical for the 2019-20 sports season on these two days: Wednesday, June 5, and Wednesday, July 10, at Athens High School from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The cost is $25.00 and there are no appointments taken. All student athletes from ANY TSD middle and high school are welcome to participate. Beaumont Family Medicine will be performing the physicals.

The physicals will be in the athletic area (near the gyms/training room) and physical forms will be available onsite. Athens HS Athletic Trainer, Mr. Brian Baines, and Troy HS Athletic Trainer, Mr. Mike Sime, will be on site for both evenings. NOTE: You do not have to take advantage of this opportunity in order for your child to participate in sports--you are welcome to get a physical from your family doctor as well. Forms (back and front) are available on the TSD Athletics page.

8th Grade Party PTO Donations Needed!

Well it’s hard to believe our kids are getting ready to graduate 8th grade in only 3 short months. Their journey on to High School is already being talked about with much anticipation. But before that all begins, we are going to celebrate our Graduates!! This year the party will take place on June 12th from 12pm to 2pm following the half day dismissal. We are planning a Kick off to Summer Beach Party!! The kids will enjoy games, food, music and a photo booth as they get together with their class to celebrate graduating Baker Middle School.

Wednesday, June 12, the kids will have a half day. All 8th graders will stay at school from 12-2pm for the 8th Grade Party. Lunch will be provided. We are asking for a $10 donation from each student to offset the cost of the party.

Please send your cash money in an envelope clearly marked your child’s name and 8th Grade Party to school no later than March 28th. **Please let us know, included in the envelope, if there are any dietary considerations for your child and your contact information so we can reach out to you. There will be a basket in the office for the envelopes.

This is sure to be a fun party as our graduating 8th graders enjoy their last days at Baker. More information will be coming out regarding donations needed, opportunities to volunteer both in planning and the day of the event, and about the activities being planned. Congratulations Graduating 8th Graders!!! We can’t wait to kick off the summer with a Beach Party!!!
