Conrad Weekly Memo September 22, 2020

Principal's Message

On September 17th, the Delaware State Board of Education approved the decision of the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association to move forward with a Fall athletic season beginning with September 28th practices/tryouts. Therefore, Red Clay and Conrad are moving forward with preparations for a safe return to high school athletics and other extra-curricular activities if you choose for your child to participate. This plan will begin with varsity athletics (expanded rosters). The tentative decision is to begin JV and Middle School athletics with the Winter Season. All 8th-12th grade student-athletes are welcomed to tryout/practice for/with varsity teams.

Please note that these tentative plans are subject to change by Conrad leadership, the Red Clay Consolidated school district, or DIAA. Such decisions are made regularly based on current COVID-19 data and information provided from DDPH.

Required Information for Student-Athletes

To tryout/practice, student-athletes must complete the following:

DIAA 2020-2021 PPE Form on file at Conrad.

Returning Conrad 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students who have a physical on file with our school nurse for 2019-2020 (played any DIAA sport for Conrad last year) are grandfathered from the Physical Examination form until December 31, 2020. These returning 10th-12th grade students will need to have a new Physical Examination Form (PPE) from MD/DO, NP, PA dated by December 31, 2020. However, these returning athletes must complete a 2020-2021 HISTORY FORM & MEDICAL CARD (completed by parent) and return it to Conrad on or before September 28th. After review of the history form and medical card, our school nurse or athletic trainer may determine that a returning athlete does require a new PPE before December 31, 2020.

All current 8th grade, 9th grade, and transfer students must have the DIAA 2020-2021 PPE Form (all pages dated after April 1, 2020) on file at Conrad before participating.

Our School-Based Health Center (Wellness Center) is open for appointments and details to register and/or schedule an appointment are at School Based Health Center Resources.

A completed Fall Information Form - This sign-up form will collect the student’s name, grade, physical information, and transportation needs. Student-athletes may not tryout without completing this form by 3:00pm on September 25th.

Please send all documents (listed above) to the attention of Pat Williamson, Athletic Director.
