Why did you choose Hamilton?

I chose Hamilton for the balance between academics and athletics. Hamilton has a challenging yet collaborative academic environment. The gorgeous campus was also a deciding factor.

How is being a student-athlete helpful in life?

It gave me an instant group of friends and a support group. We are also close with other teams and support them by attending their games.

How is Hamilton preparing you for the future?

Hamilton has improved both my writing and oral communication skills. Hamilton also has an emphasis on collaborative work which has taught me how to work well in groups.

What other activities are you involved in?

I am an EMT with HCEMS and have worked for the Psychology and Neuroscience departments for the past couple of semesters.

What has been the best part of your Hamilton experience?

The people I have met here have been the best part of Hamilton. Throughout the years, I have made many lifelong friendships and have been taught valuable life lessons from my friends, teammates, coaches, professors etc.

What is your most memorable sports moment at Hamilton?

I would say beating Bowdoin in the NESCAC quarterfinals last year with about 2 minutes left.

What is your pre-game ritual?

I always eat oatmeal before a game.

How is adjusting to the “new normal” during workouts, practice, classes, and bEing on campus in general?

It is not as big of an adjustment as I thought it would be. The athletic staff has provided a ton of support. The gym being moved into the indoor turf has allowed us to continue with lifting. I am so grateful to be able to practice with my whole team now, even if it is masked and socially distant. Classes have been a bigger adjustment for me, especially having a neuroscience class and lab via zoom.

DID YOU LEARN ANYTHING NEW ABOUT YOURSELF DURING QUARANTINE?

I read several books (in a nonacademic setting) for the first time in awhile and I hope to continue this if/when I have free time.

WHAT DID YOU MISS THE MOST DURING QUARANTINE?

I miss being with my dog and spending time outside.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS/ WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE PROFESSOR?

Max Majireck who was my orgo professor.

If you could play any other sport what would it be?

I wish I had played ice hockey when I was younger.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OTHER STUDENT-ATHLETES OR INCOMING FIRST YEARS?

Value your time at practice and with your team because 4 years goes by much quicker than you think.
