Summer 3D Design Class By: Yusra

My name is Yusra A. I am going to 8th grade at King Arts. I did a similar program with Mrs. Kushner last year and I had so much fun, so I did it again this year. I knew about the laser cutters and 3D Printers, but this year I learned about the Carvey carving machine.

On the first day of the camp I designed a nameplate. First, I went to Dafont.com and chose a cool cursive font. After I imported it into Photoshop and edited it, I put it into easel.inventables.com, which is a design website that works with the Carvey.
In this picture the Carvey machine is carving the name out of a 1/4 in. MDF wood piece.
On the second day, I decorated the wooden name by marbling it with nail polish. First, we dropped nail polish into a tin filled with water. Then we dipped our wooden names in the nail polish. This created a beautiful marble effect.
While I was marbling the wooden name, I also marbled a laser cut Fidget Spinner that Mrs. Kushner brought for us.
I also designed a fidget spinner using easel.inventables.com. I made it by using one of the fidget spinner templates and customizing it to make it my own.
On the third day, I printed my fidget spinner and added the bearing.
I also designed what was supposed to be a scarf hanger. When it printed it was really small and thin, so I found a new purpose for it. This is now used to separate painted finger nails so that they dry without touching each other.

I hope I can do this program again next year. It is so fun!
