Urban October is an opportunity for everyone to be part of the conversation about the challenges and opportunities created by the fast rate of change in our cities and towns. Each October, everyone interested in sustainable urbanization from national and local governments to universities, NGOs and communities is encouraged to hold or participate in virtual or physical activities, events, and discussions. This year’s Urban October will focus on the climate crisis which is also the theme of UN-Habitat’s campaign ClimateAction4Cities although activities can be about any aspect of sustainable urbanization.

The UN-Habitat #ClimateAction4Cities Campaign, a dedicated action campaign to engage, mobilize multiple actors and promote climate solutions in cities and communities. Climate action solutions will be promoted on social media channels, shared on various platforms, and informal discussions with researchers and policy-makers at the Innovate4Cities Conference (co-hosted by UN-Habitat on 11-15 October 2021).

The New Urban Agenda Illustrated handbook unpacks the propositions of the New Urban Agenda and highlights their synergies with the Sustainable Development Goals and Targets. It subdivides and maps the New Urban Agenda into three chapters: 1) Core Dimensions, 2) Means of Implementation and 3) Governance, Follow-up and Review. The handbook includes definitions, visual illustrations, examples from all over the world, and practical propositions for action, to help all urban stakeholders understand and implement the New Urban Agenda.

The New Urban Agenda online crash course is accessible via any internet-connected device. A fully interactive, immersive learning experience in two parts, the course presents the New Urban Agenda in an engaging and flexible format.
